Tray-tober Day 31: Set Sett

My most popular app is a WinForms app called Windows Caffeinated and it does one small thing very well, keeps your display on. While that is nice, I frequently wish I could add some more. I believe there are a few more combinations of when something should happen (and for how long) that really opens this experience up much more!

Set Sett is an app that enables you to build setters which are a combination of a setting and when the change should happen. This initial version is fairly straightforward with the options to set and the setting available for setting.

At the heart of this app is a tray flyout to see setters that can be triggered, or their current state. You can also create new tray icons which represent your particular setting, maybe it is the sleep time (like Windows Caffeinated) or it could be dark or light theme. The options are up to you for which combination makes sense.

For me personally I plan to add a setter which make my screen sleep time longer when I’m at home (and battery is above 30%) to reduce the times I go back to my PC and find it asleep and needing to renter my pin. This is the kind of scenario where I imagine the security away from home can be increased without being a pain when working from home.

I hope you create some awesome setters that really make your PC work for you. What do you want to see in the future roadmap for Set Sett?

Happy Tray-tober!

Joe
