Spreadsheet, Markdown, and Raw Text modes come to Text Grab 4.14

The release train keeps rolling! The latest version of Text Grab is here with smarter text capture and a more flexible Edit Text Window. The headline features are:

  1. Paragraph Detection
  2. New Edit Text Window modes: Spreadsheet, Markdown, and Raw Text
  3. New text tools and conversions: Join Lines, Shuffle Lines, and Pace units
Paragraph Detection

OCR usually hands back text one line at a time, which is great for tables but not so great when you’re grabbing a paragraph. With Paragraph Detection, Text Grab can now merge nearby lines back into a single line so the text reads the way it was written. You’ll find an option in the general settings to turn it on, plus more fine‑grained controls right in the Grab Frame for when you want to dial it in per grab.

Edit Text Window modes

The Edit Text Window now adapts to how you’re working with three modes. Spreadsheet mode is built for tabular data, Markdown mode is great for formatted writing, and Raw Text mode keeps things plain and simple. Switch between them depending on what you grabbed and what you want to do with it.

This also means Text Grab can be set as the default program for .md (markdown) or .csv files and will open them in their respective modes.

New tools and conversions

A few handy additions landed in the Edit Text Window this release. Join Lines collapses selected lines together, Shuffle Lines randomizes their order, and the unit conversions now include Pace units for the runners out there.

General improvements
  • Improved first‑run experience for new users
  • Added more information about the packages Text Grab uses
  • Updated dependencies across the board

As always I’m working to catch and fix bugs along the way. If there’s anything about Text Grab you’d like to change or improve, head over to GitHub and open an issue, I’m very active in there! https://github.com/TheJoeFin/Text-Grab

Happy Text Grabbing!
